Verizon to start selling Samsung U940 as Glyde in late March?

Samsung GlydeIn a move that seem designed to get more attention among both users and the media for the new device once it hits the store shelves, Verizon is reportedly renaming the Samsung U940 to simply “Glyde.” Coping with the numbers is getting harder every day, and my guess is the CDMA carrier wants to differentiate special handsets by “honoring” them with special names. They already sell Venuses and Chocolates, and now — actually that’s in late March — they’ll be rolling out the Glyde (that can slide). 😉

Anyway, Samsung already did the paperwork with FCC and now it’s all about timing. The U940 Glyde is a special, high-end handset and releasing it for the Valentine’s Day doesn’t make much sense. But what the heck is happening in March? Err, nothing – but the way things are progressing, Verizon will be prepared to push some cool news in a usually dull month for the mobile industry. Stay tuned…
