Motorola Q11 is unofficially official

Following on the Motorola Q11 sneak-peak that Motorola gave Brazil recently, the struggling handset maker has gone all but official with their Motorola Q11 on their website. Motorola has stopped short of making an official announcement of their newest Motorola Q smartphone, but the specifications sheet has been posted by Motorola. As expected, the Motorola Q11 will drop 3G data connectivity in favor of a WiFi radio.

Here’s what we’re expecting from the Motorola Q11’s spec-sheet:

  • Windows Mobile 6.1
  • Talk Time:
    • Up to approximately 450 minutes
  • Standby Time:
    • Up to approximately 195 hours
  • Bands/Modes:
    • Quad-band (850/900/1800/1900Mhz) GPRS/EDGE Class 10
    • NO 3G
  • Messaging:
    • SMS, MMS, Integrated ActiveSync Email Push, Java App for IM
  • Audio:
    • MIDI, MP3, AAC, AAC+, AAC+ Enhanced, WAV, WMA, WAX, WMV
  • Video:
    • RV, MPEG4, H.264, WMV, 15 fps
  • Camera:
    • 3 megapixel Fixed Focus
    • LED Flash
    • 8x Zoom
  • Memory:
    • 128MB Flash / 64 MB RAM, optional microSD card up to 32GB
  • Weight:
    • 115g
  • Dimensions:
    • 117x64x11.7 mm
  • Battery:
    • 1170 mAH
  • Connectivity:
    • MicroUSB/USB 1.1
    • Bluetooth Class 1 v2.1 wireless technology
    • 802.11b/g
    • GPS and aGPS
  • Browser:
    • WAP 2.2 / HTML / Pocket IE 6
  • Chipset:
    • LTE + Intel Bulverde
    • Freescale ARM 7 LTE

The Motorola Q11 is also expected to launch with “WAP 2.2 / HTML / Pocket IE 6,” which means that this Motorola smartphone may just be the Windows Mobile 6.1-powered device that makes good on Microsoft’s promise to deliver a revamped Pocket Internet Explorer. As you may recall, Microsoft said that they’d be rolling out a new Internet Explorer Mobile / Pocket Internet Explorer (PIE), dubbed Pocket Internet Explorer 6, based on the same code used in the desktop version of Internet Explorer and designed to deliver a truly desktop-like web browsing experience on a mobile phone. The Motorola Q11 could hit the market this December just in time for PIE6 to go live before the end of the year.

Pricing isn’t solid. And, without a 3G radio, we’re not banking on AT&T picking up the Motorola Q11.
