In what might seem like astonising growth (especially when you look at the numbers), Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. (a Chinese telecom equipment vendor) is asserting increases of almost 29% during 2009 – this in the face of dire news from the likes of AlcaLu and others….
So Huawei (pronounced Wah-way) has confirmed it did $23.3bn in contract sales last year, and is looking for $30bn this year – giving us that whopping (nearly) one-third growth! Fascinatingly, of the figures last year, oversears (outside China) sales were about 75% of the total.
With China Telecom Operators’ 3G rollouts this years, the domestic sales could be in for a massive boost, but you can guarantee Huawei will still be moving even more strongly in to Europe – nex-gen networks will be a central focus, for sure. Huawei already supplies Tier 1 Operators such as BT, Telecom Italia, and Telefonica, and will surely push to close some further big fish before the year is out. Of course, there is a massive opportunity also in developing markets, such as India and Russia.
