Handmark

Handmark, the company which we know for their PocketExpress application, has a new offering called Mobile Store Platform. Touted as the “turnkey solution for handset manufactures and carriers,” the platform offers interested parties an ability to launch their own native, on-device mobile store which is full of the best mobile games, apps, ringtones, themes and more.

At the moment, Windows Mobile is the only platform supported, but the company plans to roll-out version for other smartphones, as well. Among the platform features are:

  • A customizable UI built specifically for each device, including full touchscreen capabilities
  • Industry’s best games, apps, themes and more, as well as real-music ringtones from leading music labels
  • Full-service merchandising with dedicated quality control and certification support
  • Detailed user reviews with a star-rating system
  • Search functionality and easy navigation by category, rating or featured content
  • Carrier billing, alongside standard payment methods (i.e. credit cards)
  • First line customer care and services for each app purchased or downloaded

Handmark’s release goes on suggesting that as a result all parties included in the system will benefit: developers will make money by selling their software, carriers/handset makers will see an additional revenues, and the end-users will have tons of mobile content at their fingertips.

In a nutshell, it’s something to look forward to, in hope your carrier or favorite handset maker will use Handmark’s solution to bring an app store to your device. We’ll see who’ll jump first on Handmark’s offering. In the meantime, more information is available from their website…
