T-Mobile G1: We’re Number 5!

That’s right, the folks at HTC and Google can rejoice… The NPD Group released sales rankings (for Q1 2009) and the G1 ranks fifth on the list behind a sea of BlackBerry devices… and the iPhone. The Curve 83xx series was all the news the other day, having beat out the iPhone for this top spot… But we can’t forget our friend, the T-Mobile G1, right?

Here’s the top 5 for Q1, 2009:

  1. RIM BlackBerry Curve (all 83XX models)
  2. Apple iPhone 3G (all models)
  3. RIM BlackBerry Storm
  4. RIM BlackBerry Pearl (all models, except flip)
  5. T-Mobile G1

All things considered, placing fifth on this list is not too shabby. The BlackBerry is established and the ultimate communication tool. The iPhone has been fawned over and the App Store makes picking it up an even more attractive option… For the G1 to place behind those devices from Apple and RIM is nothing to be ashamed of. Folks are wanting Android… I think that’s what we can conclude from this!
