Motorola Launches Gesture-Sensitive W7 Active Edition

Dusan wasn’t shy about beating up the Motorola W7 Active Edition when it first made the rounds two weeks ago, but maybe some gesture controls will make up for in functionality what it lacks in good looks.Flipping the phone face down, for example, will mute an incoming call, snooze your alarm or pause music, while two shakes will bring up your favourite app, and directional flicks will change tracks or pictures. Considering the other specs, it’s likely to be entry-level:

  • UMTS 2100, GSM 900/1800/1900; UMTS 850/1900, GSM 850/1800/1900;  UMTS 850/2100, GSM 850/900/1800/1900
  • 49(x) x 99(y) x 15(z) (mm)
  • Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP), USB 2.0 FS, PC Sync
  • 2.2” 320 x 240 (QVGA) 262k TFT
  • 2 megapixel with second VGA camera

The gesture controls are clearly the selling feature on the W7, but if priced right, that could be enough. Asia and Latin America will be the first ones to get the W7, sometime in Q2. Anyone hankering for this sucker?
