It’s only natural that a handset manufacturer can’t make only high-end camera and smart phones. The mass market is where the real money is and in that sense, Sony Ericsson just unveiled two stylish clamshells from the lower end of the spectrum – Z250 and Z320.
The first handset – Z250 aims to bring a new element of style to the affordable handset marketplace. When you look at it, it’s more of a fashion handset than a truly affordable device. The Z250 has a VGA camera, and enough memory to store up to 200 photos. When promoting this kind of a device, manufacturers usually emphasize just how easy to use it is — Sony Ericsson is not an exception, and in their words the Z250 is “a fashionable, compact device with simplicity at its heart.” Sony Ericsson Z250 measures at 85x47x19.5 mm, weighs 90 g and will be available in two awkwardly called colors – Morning White or Silent Black.
Swedish-Japanese handset maker touts Z320 with “stylish design with retro-look icon display.” Just like the Z250, the Z320 also looks more stylish than its counterparts made by the other handset makers — hack it even sports exchangeable front and back Style-Up covers. There’s also a better 1.3 camera with 4x digital zoom. Sony Ericsson Z320 has dimensions of 87x47x205 mm and a weight of 90 g. The choice of colors is equally weird – Crimson Red or Atlantic Blue.
Both of these devices sport tri-band GSM/GRPS radios, but lack Bluetooth connectivity. Finally, they will be available in the shops worldwide from Q3 2007.
