Vlingo Everywhere Recognizes Voice in Every BlackBerry Text Field

Vlingo has released a new feature for their BlackBerry voice control app called Vlingo Everywhere, that basically lets you input text into anything on BlackBerry (NSDQ: RIMM) using voice alone. This video demos it working with the native calendar, SMS, and Google (NSDQ: GOOG) Maps, just as a taste of what it can do. All of that is on top of the existing functions to launch applications, conduct web searches, update Twitter status, and initiate voice dialling (even through Bluetooth).

If you’re already a premium Vlingo Plus customer hoping this is a free update, you’ll be sorely mistaken – it will cost you $9.99 for the upgrade, and even then, the price is only for a limited time. The whole package is currently available for $14.99, but if you’re needing some quick handsfree help without the cost, there’s also a free version in App World. Vlingo also works on iPhone, though I think they’re going to be seeing some stiff competition from Nuance’s recently-launched Dragon Dictation.
