VZ Navigator

Verizon Wireless launched VZ Navigator 5.0 – the newest version of its “map, navigation and local search service.” Here’s what’s new:

  • Improved UI
  • Ability to run multiple VZ Navigator functions simultaneously within a navigation session
  • Facebook integration – update your status right from the app
  • Integration with Verizon’s Roadside Assistance service
  • Faster – no need to wait for the entire route to download – data will now be streamed
  • Enhanced Points of Interest database with detailed descriptions
  • Traffic crowd-sourcing
  • Alerts for some road attributes such as tunnels, U-turns, traffic circles and toll plazas
  • “Say it Mode” – verbally search for and update destinations (select handsets only)

VZ Navigator 5.0 works with select devices, including the BlackBerry Curve 8530, LG enV TOUCH, HTC Touch Pro2 and Samsung Omnia. Additional phones will be included in the list in the coming weeks.

The service costs $9.99 a month for unlimited access or $2.99 for a one-day/24-hour use on certain devices…
