This is a kind of story I like – when we have a company that tries to tackle a very delicate problem of a portion of the population. We’re talking about a UK-based TextMagic which launched a web-based service TextMagic Online and Email to SMS software. Both apps/services assist the blind and/or visually impaired to communicate with their friends and/or family members via SMS.
TextMagic’s offering doesn’t require any contract commitments – it operates on a “pay as you go” basic. A purchase of 200 credits for 250 SMS text messages within the UK costing just 19.99 GBP, which is less than 8 pence per text message.
I’ve no doubts there is a market for such a service. At the moment, 85% of the British population owns a mobile phone and they in total send a staggering 11 million text messages every hour! In other words, SMS is very important mean of communication and it’s good to know companies like TextMagic are working to include them in the conversation.
