Call me crazy, but still to this day one of my favorite devices is the HTC Hero. I know, I know, it’s old news and out-of-date… Yesterday’s device. But there’s something about it I like, perhaps it is the fact that the HERO was the first Android device I was acquainted with. While I’m not a huge Android fan, the experience on the HERO was more than enjoyable… and I loved it a lot. That little chin on the bottom of the Hero, yeah, it can be annoying, but overall, she’s a winner.
With the HTC Hero CLEARLY on my brain, I have a quick pricing update for everyone north of the border. Looks like TELUS has dropped the price even more on my favorite Android-packing handset to $29.99 on a 3-year term. Not bad when you consider the darn thing launched at $100 for the same term. Now I realize the Hero is old news (as I said before), but the thing still does pack a ton of features. You’ll get Android 2.1, Sense UI (awesome), Bluetooth, WiFi, 5 megapixel camera with video, 288MB internal flash memory, expandable to 16GB via microSD. Inside the box you’ll also find a 2GB memory card, travel charger and mini-USB sync and charging cable.

Note: The TELUS HTC Hero is available in both white and black.
If you’d rather wait for something current, you may want to pick up the HTC Desire / Triumph when it becomes available. Think of it as the next-gen Hero. It should pack Android 2.1 (with 2.2 coming shortly after release), a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 3.7″ AMOLED touchscreen (480×800), 5 megapixel camera with flash and autofocus, WiFi, Bluetooth and more. It’s going to be a good one… I guarantee it.
