I’m still skeptical about WiMAX, the world is moving towards UMTS based LTE, hell even Verizon dropped CDMA. This is not stopping Nokia from wanting to test how effective WiMAX will be in the future. A spokesperson for Nokia told Reuters that “Nokia will roll out the first WiMax-enabled Internet tablets using Intel chips in the first half of 2008.” Testing is already under way in Sprint Nextel’s lab in Virgina. No numbers are available so it is hard to say how seriously Nokia is taking this emerging wireless technology.
