Psion Teklogix iKon rugged pda smartphoneIf you need a phone that can take a licking and keep on ticking (or calling, as the case may be), Psion Teklogix might have just what you need. The company is celebrating its big “40” (that’s mid-life crisis territory in people years) with the launch of their new “iKon” smartphone.

With a 3.7-inch VGA (!) display, integrated camera, integrated GPS, UMTS, Bluetooth, WiFi, barcode scanner – all powered by your pick of Windows Mobile 6 Classic, Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional or CE.net 5 – the iKon isn’t just a rugged build, it’s got a decent spec sheet to boot. Psion Teklogix is claiming that the iKon will brush off a five-foot drop to concrete, a deluge of water, and sandstorms – perfect for your next sky-diving adventure to that construction site in the Sahara.

Pricing isn’t available, but you can expect this tough little smartphone to be available in December – just in time to gift one for the general contractor in your life.

Press release.
