Gorillaz uses Apple iPad to record new album

Gorillaz is moving into the future and has recorded its latest album with the Apple iPad, and it’s set to be released before the holidays. We’ve seen all kinds of musical performances, recordings and the like with iOS devices before (most notably with my dear friend Rana Sobhany – the iPad DJ), but to see it in mainstream use like this is pretty damn cool, too.

What prompted Gorillaz to record their latest album on the iPad? Love for the device, of course:

“I hope I’ll be making the first record on an iPad,” he told the NME. “I fell in love with my iPad as soon as I got it, so I’ve made it a completely different type of record.”

With the growing number of musical apps in the iTunes app store, I expect to see nothing short of musical awesomeness from professional artists and enthusiasts alike. As we’ve seen in the past, folks can get pretty creative with what the iPhone and iPad can do in terms of making sweet music.
