Good news for the HTC Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S owners – the Gingerbread is heading your way with the arrival date set at some point in the second quarter of this year. The hint comes from Slashgear who managed to “make” the company’s spokesperson confirm the information. He/she said: “We are excited to announce that the Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S will receive the Gingerbread update in Q2.”

Before this official statement it was wildly speculated that the original HTC Desire could be left behind since it was effectively replaced by the newly announced Desire S. However, it’s important to emphasize that the Desire is still quite capable devices, rocking a 1Ghz Snapdragon CPU, which should provide sufficient processing power for managing and running apps.

We’ll definitely be following the Gingerbread saga and let you know when each device gets its respective update. Stay tuned in the meantime…
