Motorola logoCarriers looking to capitalize on the recent spectrum auction and the push to get LTE up and running in a few years time can now look to Motorola for their network equipment needs.

The flagging mobile phone manufacturer still has a viable business in developing and providing networking equipment to network operators. And, in an effort to support carriers’ LTE prospects in the longer-term, Motorola has announced that their first commercial LTE (Long-Term Evolution) solutions will launch next year with support for the 700Mhz and 2.6Ghz bands.

“We believe deploying LTE in the 700 MHz band is mandatory to meet the needs of wireless carriers in the U.S. market as well as a number of other countries globally,” said Darren McQueen, Motorola vice president, Wireless Broadband Access Technologies. “In addition, there is a clear demand for LTE in 2.6GHz spectrum band to meet the needs of GSM carriers that have already secured the spectrum in the global market.”

It’s good to see LTE getting such strong support from the likes of Motorola. Let’s hope that LTE hits the US sooner than later.
