Motorola Fire coming to UK late September

Earlier this summer, Motorola announced the Fire, an entry-level variant of the Xpert and Droid Pro. Today, the recent inductee to the Google family mentioned that the phone’s coming to the UK in late September – just in time for the university school year to start.

The Motorola Fire runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread, has a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 3 megapixel camera, 600 MHz processor, and has FM radio included. One feature I really like on there is the ability to switch between work and play modes, so your home screen layout is always tailored to what you’re up to. HTC Sense had something like that called Scenes, and it’s good to see other manufacturers offering something similar.

There’s no mention of carrier support, but I hope this thing comes over to North America at some point. Yeah, it steps on the toes of BlackBerry just a little bit, but for folks who really like RIM’s form factor, but would rather have access to the Android Market, phones like this that have a reasonable pricetag will be very appealing.
