Screenshots of the iPhone 2.2 firmware have been floating around over the past little while. Only now though, have I been able to find snaps of the new-look App Store. As you’ll notice in the gallery below, some notable improvements have been made. First, you can sort categories by top paid, top free, and release date. Makes sense doesn’t it? Second, each category now has an icon beside it instead of a text-only list. The one last improvement I’ve noticed, (and I have to admit I was waiting for this) is you can now browse through all of the application screen shots. I can’t tell you how frustrating this was for me when browsing around the app store. I’d find an app of interest, yet, all I could ever view was the startup screenshot, and that’s it! If I wanted more shots I had to pop open my iTunes for more detailed information.

These updates are a step in the right direction. Can’t wait to update to 2.2!
