Beejive IM 2.0 hits the AppStore

Popular all-in-one instant messaging app, Beejive, has been recently updated with new features. Even before this update, Beejive was one of the hottest iPhone apps available, allowing users to connect with many different IM services — including AIM, Google Talk, ICQ, Jabber, MSN/Live, Myspace IM, and Yahoo messenger,

Among the new features of the Beejive 2.0, we highlight:

  • Ability to send photos directly from your iPhone and have them show up in-line with the body of the chat. This goes both sides, as you can also view received photos.
  • Record and send voice notes to your buddies.
  • Receive and view other files such as images, documents (Word, PDF), Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, audio and video clips. Plus, once you receive some file, you can forward it to some other contact.
  • More customization – you can change the sounds for incoming/outgoing messages.

The only problem is the price. Beejive is not a free app — it costs $15.99 — and I’m not sure is it worth it. Don’t get me wrong, Beejive is the best all-in-one IM app in the AppStore, but other contenders (Fring, Truphone, etc.) are coming and they are free. At the end, it’s your call.
