Nokia N79 Eco goes on sale with a charger in UK

Nokia obviously thinks their N79 smartphone is set to be a hit. Hence, following the N79 Active, they’re out with yet another variant of the device – N79 Eco, which is already available for pre-order at Nokia UK’s website. While there (at the pre-order page), you are also invited to participate in a survey and help Nokia gather opinions about the idea of selling phones without chargers and other accessories.

As you might imagine, this offer is for existing Nokia device owners, as it is expected that you retained a charger from your previous Nokia phone. As a result, a reduction of waste is expected as part of the Finnish giant’s “power of we:” strategy.

In addition, the N79 Eco also comes in a smaller box and with each purchase of the device, Nokia will donate 4 GBP to the global conservation organisation – WWF. It is yet not clear whether some WWF-branded mobile content is pre-loaded on the device.

Finally, this special edition Nokia N79 comes in the Petrol Black color (we’ve talked about new N79 colors before), which is not available for “regular” N79. See where this goes? Buying the Nokia N79 Eco should set you apart from other not-that-green N79 owners. 😉
