Foreigners visiting North Korea can now use their mobile phones while in the country, Chinese state media Xinhua has reported. When entering the country, visitors need to fill out a form and provide their phone’s IMEI number to North Korea’s customs agency. There is an option to buy a SIM card from Koryolink for 50 EUR for making international calls.
Previously, foreign visitors were required to leave their phones with customs and pick them up when leaving the country. So this is a (big) step forward. Next thing would be to allow everyone to freely use Internet… or that’s asking too much.
