HTC appoint new MD in UK and look to grow

htc-logoMobiletoday.co.uk is carrying an interesting story on the appointment of a senior ex-Samsung person at HTC in the UK.

Jon French has been hired at HTC’s new MD, having previously worked behind the UK MD of Samsung. His goal (obviously) is going to be building the HTC brand (but more importantly market share) in the UK and Europe.Interestingly, the role was due for appointment after the previous MD, Paul Ghent, left for a job at Palm – see, it’s all very tight-knit in the Mobile world!

Apparently, HTC has increased its marketing outlay by 30% to raise it’s profile – and to some extent that appears to be working, since awareness of the brand has definitely become more overt in the last 12 months – but I wonder how many people know the Google phones are made by HTC – probably not so many people…. perhaps the new Magic device will change that, as there will be an HTC mark on the back – see below:
