Some misconceptions about WiBree according to Dr. Dobb’s are that:

  1. WiBree competes with Bluetooth
  2. Technology breakthroughs are required
  3. WiBree is a short range protocol
  4. Like most new technologies, WiBree will have a slow ramp at first so I have plenty of time to react
  5. The "bree" in WiBree is an Old English word for crossroads or meeting place

He goes on to say:

But don’t be fooled, WiBree has the potential to make the product you
are designing obsolete. Whether it does or not depends on: (1) What
you’re designing, of course, and (2) If you are designing in what will
be the WiBree space whether you integrate it or not.

I enjoyed this piece since I too fell into the trap of believing misconception numbers 1 and 3. For those of you not in the know, WiBree was developed my Nokia; more info on Wikipedia
