Juniper Research has new market projections, suggesting that the number of mobile application downloads will approach almost 20 billion per annum by 2014. The reasons are the proliferation of mobile application stores, improvements in storefront interfaces, as well as an increasing number of titles appealing to wider demographics.
In the same release, the research company also announced its Future Mobile Awards for Mobile Applications. The gold medal went to acrossair for their ingenious augmented reality app, “Nearest Tube”, developed for the iPhone 3GS; while the developer of the popular game Tap Tap Revenge series, Tapulous, scored the silver award.
