att-logoPennsylvania State University campuses are about to get a little more high-tech this school year. AT&T has announced that they have signed on as Penn State’s WiFi provider of choice. Starting with Penn State’s University Park and Altoona campuses, AT&T has started lighting up WiFi campus-wide WiFi networks so that students-to-be, parents and visitors can hop on the information superhighway with their mobile phone or laptop. Access to the WiFi network will be free to AT&T customers with WiFi plans, as it is at Starbucks and Barnes & Noble locations nationwide. Those without access to AT&T’s WiFi HotSpot network can get all-day access for $5.99 per day.

AT&T’s agreement with Penn State will give the university three years of AT&T WiFi coverage across its 23 campuses and University locations. “We have welcomed the opportunity to join Penn State for this project and we’re thrilled to be the University’s driver to help campus visitors stay connected,” said Angie Wiskocil, senior vice president of AT&T Wi-Fi Services. “Wi-Fi access from AT&T provides the ability to connect around-the-clock – which is invaluable for people who are always on the go and need their Internet connection when they are on campus.”

And, with more than 30 cell sites in the area upgraded to work with AT&T’s higher-speed 3G network, Penn State natives locals should be enjoying the new school year!
