Infosys unveils Flypp mobile app platformIndia’s Infosys has prepared a mobile application platform for carriers called Flypp, to allow them to launch their own app stores. In a world, where we already have quite a few similar offerings from major operators, handset makers and platform providers – we ask will anyone use this? Something tells me there is a market for Flypp. Earth is a huge place and there are quite a few smaller carriers which might be enticed to launch their own app store and eventually increase ARPU.

Here are few more details about Flypp (from the the press release):

Flypp from Infosys is a “Ready to Launch” Application platform for mobile operators. This “operator centric” platform enables mobile operators to offer a bouquet of applications, including third party ones to its subscribers with a rich and engaging customer experience. The platform can be easily integrated into operator’s current technology environment and can also plug-and-play with their existing on-deck applications.

As part of the offering, Flypp also includes an Application Toolbox to test and certify the satisfactory operation of applications on carrier’s environments — i.e. for managing the application approval process… Additional details are available from here.
