Walmart Wireless to sell the Nexus One? *UPDATE: No they won’t!*

Walmart Wireless to sell the Nexus One?

At the moment you can grab the Nexus One only from Google. But as they try to reach larger audience, I’ve no doubts deals would be struck with a number of retailers and operators. Why not with Walmart? If there’s one company that has reach comparable to Google’s, it’s Walmart. And apparently the retail giant’s wireless arm may be adding the Android 2.1-powered smartphone to its offering sooner rather than later.

The screenshot above was taken from Walmart Wireless’ website, though I wasn’t able to find anything “nexus” today. The phone is pulled from the site, but as you can see it’s “coming soon.” When exactly that “soon” is remains mystery. We’ll keep our ears to the ground, so stay tuned…

UPDATE: It was a glitch, apparently. Walmart said that it has “no plans to carry Nexus One” in its stores or online. The company’s spokesman Ravi Jariwala said: “Due to a technical error, this item erroneously was displayed on our site. We’re working with our partner Let’s Talk to have it removed as quickly as possible. We have no plans to carry Nexus One in Walmart stores or online at Walmart.com at this time.”
