Video: iPhone Dev Team jailbreaks the iPad – Fully jailbroken iPad inevitable!

We haven’t even spent 48 hours with our iPad, and wouldn’t you know it, the iPad iPhone Dev Team goes and posts a video demonstrating a working iPad jailbreak technique. It was inevitable that the iPad would be jailbroken in due time, but we didn’t expect its file system security to topple so fast. The notorious MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev Team posted a link to the demo video today, confirming that we’ll all soon be able to install non-sanctioned iPad apps that enable “pirate” functionality like true background multitasking.

The hack that allowed this iPad jailbreak is apparently the “Spirit” exploit that is credited to @comex. It’s going to take some time to take this hack from development status to a consumer-grade jailbreak solution, but rest assured that it will happen.

We’ll keep a close eye on any iPad jailbreak news coming out from the iPhone Dev Team and let you know as soon as an official jailbreak is available.
