Two major remote access apps now support the iPad: LogMeIn Ignition and Citrix Receiver

Two major remote access apps that were already available for the iPhone and iPod Touch users are now singing along the iPad as well. We’re talking about Citrix Receiver and LogMeIn Ignition, both of which are ready to take advantage of Apple tablet’s large screen.

While Citrix’ software is free, it does require that you (your company) has the server component installed. In that sense, it’s ideal for organizations which already use Citrix’ stuff and now want to extend the reach to the iPad users.

On the other hand, LogMeIn Ignition can be used by just about anyone without some expensive software required. Hence, the iPad version is not free, and you can grab it for $29.99.

Both apps allow users to access and manage files on remote computers, start programs, copy stuff and so on.

The way I see it, iPad is a device that will most often be used inside one’s home, hence you would need a remote access app to reach for the stuff on your company’s network. Then again I may be wrong and people could actually use such an app to access their home server or a nearby computer. What do you think?
