O, The Oprah Magazine

Oprah loves her iPad. She gushed over it on her popular television show, calling it “amazing” and literally squealing with delight over playing scrabble against other people. It was only a matter of time before her own content came to life on Apple’s tablet device.

Thanks to magazine and newspaper publisher Hearst, Oprah fans with an iPad can now enjoy O, The Oprah Magazine on their iPad. Available now in iTunes of r $3.99, The Oprah Magazine takes the content of the printed magazine and presents it in a rich, interactive format. Prepare yourself as ads are present in this paid application and the current edition includes two interactive ads from Disney and Lexus.

The sting of viewing an ad in a paid application is quickly forgotten once the iPad-owning Oprah fan launches the application. The application opens with an introductory video from the television star that segues into an animated magazine cover. Additional videos and other  interactive content are sprinkled through the magazine application.

The iPad-based magazine also includes a holiday gift guide with one-click purchasing and a “reading room” that lets you read the first chapter of O’s Top 10 Books of the Year and then buy the title through Amazon or Barnes and Noble online. With all these features, Oprah fans are going to love it!

You can buy and download the application from iTunes here and read the full press release on the next page.
