While it’s pretty late to be posting Mobile World Congress stories at this point, we still have a few more photo booth tours we wanted to share with our viewers and this time around, it’s LG’s turn. With the Optimus 4X HD, 3D MAX, Vu, and L-Style line, it’s definitely a booth you didn’t want to miss. LG’s booth was pretty simple and had a nice layout that showcased each of its new devices well. The Entire L-Style line had its own corner of the booth, as did the new … Read more
While it may have been overshadowed by Apple’s new iPad, Samsung announced the new Galaxy Note 10.1 at Mobile World Congress this year. Essentially a larger, tablet version of the 5.3 inch note, Samsung was pushing its newest device as hard as it could but still made room for some other devices you’d expect to see. Just like CES earlier this year, the Samsung booth had artists who were drawing caricatures of people using the Galaxy Note. There were also stations set up for people to experience the new 10.1 … Read more
Mobile World Congress was quite the trip this year and while Motorola didn’t announce much at all this go around, its booth was pretty interesting. Showcasing its durable devices, tablets, MotoACTV, and more, the Motorola booth may not have been the most exciting but it was decent to say the least. Our biggest hope from Motorola at Mobile World Congress was to see the Intel-based Android device announced, which we’ve already seen renders of. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and we were left wanting at Motorola’s booth this year. The booth’s … Read more
Not only did Huawei bring the world its own quad-core processor that will ship in the upcoming Ascend Quad HD, but its booth was probably one of the most ridiculous we’ve seen this year at Mobile World Congress 2012. Ridiculous in a very good way, though. Basically one side of the entire booth was a screen (on the ceiling and the floor), which showed off some of its new products. Huawei may not be in the same league with the likes of Samsung but along with ZTE, Huawei is pushing … Read more
Aside from all the new phones, LG also unveiled a new wireless charger at Mobile World Congress – WCD-800. Designed in the shape of a cradle, it allows users to position their phone vertically to make video calls and send text messages, or horizontally to watch movies while charging. As with other wireless chargers, you don’t need to physically connect your phone to the charger stand – simply place it on the deck of the cradle and you’re good to go. Using electromagnetic induction, the WCD-800 will then do its … Read more
We may have covered Sony’s new phones earlier in the year at CES 2012 but we decided to snap a few shots of it’s Mobile World Congress booth so you can get a tour of it for yourself. We were hoping to see a bit more from Sony Mobile this year but it looks like it’s pretty happy with where it is in the space, which apparently means that there won’t be a Xperia Play 2 coming out anytime soon. The booth itself showcased Sony’s new Xperia line, the P, … Read more
To say that HTC killed it at Mobile World Congress this year would be an understatement. Not only did it release the best handset at the whole show in general but it also made known that it’s heard some of the complaints it received over the last year and it shows within the new One family. The One X, One S, and One V really show that HTC really could be coming back up in the Android space by doing what it does best: Making great hardware. The HTC booth … Read more
Aside from new phones, HTC also used Mobile World Congress to unveil new APIs, part of its HTC OpenSense SDK. The new set of developer tools includes Beats Audio API, Lockscreen API, Mobile Device Management API and soon a HTC MediaLink HD API — using which developers are able to enhance the audio experience of their apps, integrate access to an app from the HTC lock screen, and/or enable their app to take advantage of dual screen capabilities using Wireless HDMI. Of course, only users with select HTC phones will … Read more
I’ll admit it, when Nokia announced the PureView 808 the first thing that came to my mind was the word “bullshit”. How the hell could they possibly say that they made a camera phone with a 41 megapixel sensor? This industry may be fast moving, some might even call it exciting, but one thing it isn’t is random. Nearly every spec bump we’ve seen over the past few years has been predictable. Processors get a little bit quicker every year, radios give you an extra megabit or two per second, … Read more
