Samsung has almost always treated its beta programs like a VIP lounge, reserved for Galaxy S and Z series owners. So the fact that the Galaxy A56 appears to be getting its own One UI 9.0 beta access is actually a bigger deal than it sounds. According to Android Headlines, the Samsung Community forum in India already has a live, dedicated One UI 9.0 beta section for the Galaxy A56, and test builds have been spotted on Samsung’s internal Korean servers. That’s usually not something that happens quietly unless a release is close.
This matters because Samsung skipped the Galaxy A56 during last year’s One UI beta cycle entirely. The phone existed, users wanted early access, and Samsung just… didn’t bother. Doing it this time around signals that Samsung is taking mid-range software support more seriously. Whether that’s because competition from brands like Xiaomi and Nothing has gotten loud enough to force the issue, or because Samsung just wants to clean up its reputation on software updates for A-series phones, the result is the same. Galaxy A56 owners are getting something they didn’t get before.
The One UI 9.0 software is built on Android 17, which makes this a meaningful update, not just a visual refresh with a few tweaked icons. Beta access means users can test real features before the stable build ships, report bugs, and actually shape the final product. That’s a level of inclusion mid-range buyers rarely see from Samsung.
But the A56 isn’t alone here. Samsung also appears to be gearing up beta testing for three other Galaxy A-series devices. Test builds have surfaced for all of the following:
- Galaxy A35, with beta firmware spotted on Korean servers
- Galaxy A36, with a build found in India
- Galaxy A57, with a test build and dedicated forum pages spotted in India
Seeing these builds pop up on internal servers before any official announcement is a pretty reliable sign that public availability is coming. Samsung typically doesn’t let firmware sit that close to the surface without pushing it out soon after.
Still, there’s an obvious catch. Samsung hasn’t even opened the One UI 9.0 beta for its premium Galaxy S lineup yet. The A-series will absolutely go second. So while the signs are encouraging, Galaxy A56 owners shouldn’t expect an invite to land this week. Premium models come first, that’s just how Samsung has always operated.
What this really tells you is that Samsung is working to extend its software testing culture beyond flagship territory. Whether or not the beta rolls out smoothly, or lands with bugs that take weeks to fix, the precedent itself is worth paying attention to. If Samsung keeps this up across future generations, it could actually become a meaningful differentiator for people choosing between a Galaxy A-series phone and the competition. Right now though, it’s still a wait-and-see situation. The forum page is live, the builds are real, and the beta is coming. Just probably not today.
