We’re excited to see how well the HTC Touch is doing in overseas markets. Now it looks like German wireless operators Tmobile International, Vodafone Germany, and O2 Germany will be picking up the hot, new HTC Touch for a late June or early July rollout.
Of course, those finicky Tmobile and O2 execs weren’t willing to share the HTC Touch name with the manufacturer and will be launching the handset as the Tmobile MDA Touch and O2 Xda Nova, respectively. Vodafone is still willing to share branding space with HTC’s, so we’ll be seeing the same sleek, matte finish that the Touch launched with. O2’s re-branding results in a shiny, black finish that kind of takes away from the warm feel of HTC’s original design. We’re not sure what Tmobile will be doing to the HTC Touch’s design, but if past re-badging efforts are any indication, we can expect a fully chop-shopped redesign.
The Touch is expected in the next couple weeks, just in time to beat the Apple iPhone – both in availability and price point. Oh, did we mention that the contract-price of the Touch is expected to be around 49 Euros (450 Euros without contract)? Apple better have some rebates or subsidies in the pipeline if they want to keep potential iPhone-hopefuls from jumping ship!
