What good is that high-end, fancy-shmancy smartphone if you can’t sync it with your desktop? For a real “smart”phone experience on your Mac, your choices are a lot more limited (the iPhone is seamlessly integrated, but we’re not talking about that here) – iSync is the Mac’s equivalent of ActiveSync. Unfortunately, not all smartphones are supported by iSync.
Now, there’s a working iSync plugin for the Sony Ericsson P990i and W950i! We found these handy-dandy plugins over at the My-Symbian.com forums – made by “Forum Newbie,” mate. A little modification to the already existing Sony Ericsson P1i iSync plugin was all it took to get the P990i and W950ito play nice with the Mac. We’re suprised nobody came up with this earlier.
The SE P990i plugin was tested with Apple iSync 2.4 (501.2) and this firmware:
Phone:
CXC162037 R9G007
Bluetooth:
CXC162058 R5A01
Organizer:
CXC162036 R6D23
CDA:
CDA162007/1 R6D23
The Sony Ericsson W950i hasn’t been tested by mate, but users have reported that it works.
Download the plugin and try it out yourself. If you have problems using the plugin, make sure you pair with your Mac first, and that your firmware is up to date.
