Quick heads-up for our readers across the pond. Apple’s iPhone 3G carrier in the UK, O2, has apparently upped the ante when it comes to data-roaming charges.
With the iPhone 3G poised to serve up wireless data at speeds that, depending on the network, can rival broadband speeds, UK iPhone 3G hopefuls are looking at steeper data-roaming charges.
Any iPhone 3G users roaming around the EU will be charged £3 (about $6 US) for every single megabyte that they download. Start roaming outside the EU and you’ll be looking at £6 (about $12 US) per megabyte downloaded.
Just remember, turn off the “Data Roaming” setting on your iPhone when abroad. You can thank us later.
