LBS software provider deCarta along with local search service Appello (developer of Wisepilot) announced a deal with LG to install navigation and local search services on GPS-enabled LG feature phones worldwide.
Under the agreement, deCarta will supply the Appello Wisepilot navigation app built on deCarta’s Drill Down Server (DDS), providing LG handset users with both navigation capabilities as well as lifestyle content tailored for core target groups. Additionally, the application will be integrated with other mobile services such as geotagging and social networking, and users will also benefit from a companion personal web portal allowing further customization.
Initially, the new services will be offered in over 40 countries, where the client apps will come pre-installed on devices with a free 30-day trial period. Afterwards, if users love the idea, they will be able to continue using it under a daily, 6- or 12-month subscription plan…
