It’s the last day of the Mobile World Congress and it’s time to announce the winners of the 14th annual Global Mobile Awards. The ceremony, which unfortunately we haven’t attended, was held at a gala dinner at the National Palace in Barcelona, and hosted by the rising star of comedy, Michael McIntyre. Black Eyed Peas’ frontman, will.i.am, and award-winning jazz artist, Jamie Cullum, were also there, in addition to all the mobile industry folks. Along with announcing the winners, GSMA also revealed the Global Champion of the 2009 Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition.
Finally, the GSMA’s Mobile Innovation initiative launched a new Awards format as part of the 2010 Global Mobile Awards, with the idea to showcase promising entrepreneurs from small and medium-sized companies. The “first leg” of the competition, the EMEA Tournament, will take place at the World Innovation Summit in Barcelona in June.
