When Apple changes its purposely limited product lineup, the world takes notice. For instance, Apple over the weekend changed the status of its iPhone Bluetooth Headset to “discontinued” in Apple’s online store, prompting some Apple fans to speculate that new iPhone Bluetooth hardware is coming down the product pipeline.
Curiously, the Apple online store still offers the iPhone Bluetooth Headset for $99, allowing customers to add the iPhone accessory to their shopping carts. The move to discontinue the Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset may be aimed at reducing Apple’s current stock to make room for an updated iPhone Bluetooth Headset launching alongside new iPhone hardware later this year.
The iPhone Bluetooth Headset has been criticized for its limited battery life and feature-set. Apple even dropped the price of the headset from $129 to $99 in an effort to offer more value to customers. But, there’s nothing like a new piece of hardware to reinvigorate accessory sales.
Will Apple launch a refreshed iPhone Bluetooth Headset to accompany the new iPhone that’s expected to go live in a few months’ time? We’ll have to wait and see…
