You’ve probably heard of TinyURL, the service which makes URLs shorter so you can share them more easily with your friends and colleagues. Sure it can work on both regular-desktop and mobile websites, but typing could be an issue on a majority of phones. The problem is that with a numeric keypad, you need to press a single key multiple times in order to type a word. That exactly was the problem the folks behind MobileTinyURL tried to tackle and it seems they’ve succeeded.
The service works just like TinyURL and other similar services — i.e. you type the original, way-too-long URL, and you’ll get a shorter URL which will redirect the user to your original location. MobileTinyURL’s trick is that they use the first letters of each keypad number, hence reducing a number of key presses, making URLs easier to input.
The service is free and works for all content types, not just for web pages. You can try it out from here.
