If you have a Nokia N900 in your pocket (or in your hands as you read this), consider yourself lucky. Your Maemo-powered N900 is one of the only smartphones on market today that works with the public releases of Mozilla’s Firefox Mobile (Fennec) web browser. Following on the browser maker’s recent Firefox RC1 release for the N900, the company has already released Firefox RC2. The mobile web browser from Mozilla is based on the same rendering engine that is used in the desktop version of Firefox 3.6, which gives it a speedy and reliable browsing experience. It supports tabbed browsing, synchronized desktop-to-mobile browsing, and an “Awesome Bar” that predicts where on the web you’d like to go.
The new browser is only available for the Nokia N900, so all you BlackBerry users out there desperate for a web browser that actually works will have a wait a bit longer. If you have an N900, point it to firefox.com/m and start your download.
