Pharos has unveiled a new device, which is seemingly targeted towards the industry. It’s the WinMo 6.5-powered ruggedized Pharos 565, which is compliant with the International Protection Rating (IP54) standard and can resist a drop in a range of 4-5 feet. Specs wise, the smartphone comes with a 3.5-inch QVGA touchscreen (why not higher resolution?), WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, infrared port, RAW IR/SIR, Marvell’s PXA310 624 MHz CPU, 256MB of RAM that’s coupled with 512MB of ROM, and of course a microSD memory card slot.
In other words, the Pharos 565 is quite capable (thanks to WinMo), yet super ugly device made to work in tough environments. It’s already available with a MSRP of $529.95.
