Just as we expected, Bitstream has launched a new version (1.7) of its BOLT browser, a year after it was unveiled to the world. Let’s go straight to the new features included in this release:
- Localization – BOLT now includes options for English, Spanish and Russian languages
- Widgets – still in beta, BOLT now allows users to install small self-contained web apps (written as standard W3C widgets) that run directly from within BOLT.
- Twitter integration – so that users can post tweets directly from the browser
- Usability enhancements – keypad shortcuts for zooming in and out (something Opera Mini had for long time).
- Upgraded download manager that supports multiple simultaneous downloads as well as the ability to pause and restart an active download.
- Automatic socket support which could deliver up to 15% speed increase (previous versions offered manually configured socket support)
Finally, at the end of the release, Bitstream reminds us BOLT is the only mobile browser for all types of mobile phones (feature phones included) that supports streaming video from multiple video sharing websites. To download BOLT, hop over to this page and take it from there.
