The Foursquare beta app for BlackBerry continues its journey to the release candidate promised land, now with the ability to add tips to the locations at which you check in, and add friends via mobile.
For those of you who haven’t caught on to the fad, Foursquare is a location-based social networking app that tracks “check-ins” at particular locales, and grants points, badges, and even "mayorship” to frequent users. There have been a lot of privacy concerns lately surrounding Foursquare, but, as Foursquare says, it really extends to the larger issue of sharing any personal information at all online, being aware of the privacy controls available and using them judiciously.
Personally, I’m holding out for Gowalla or even MyTown to find their way to BlackBerry before getting into this whole crazy bandwagon, but I still dig the idea of using GPS for something other than turn-by-turn directions.
