HTC Smart, which is the Taiwanese company’s first feature phone, has been launched in India by Bharti Airtel. The all-touchscreen phone gets its smarts from Qualcomm’s mass-market Brew platform, while keeping HTC’s famous Sense UI — though Brew is not the full-fledged mobile OS.
As you probably know, Sense allows users to customize and personalize their device(s), and get quick access to contacts, photos, music, and weather information; as well as keep up with their buddies across social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc) through HTC Friend Stream. The HTC Smart is the company’s first Brew-powered phone with Sense UI — their other products are powered by either Windows Mobile or Android.
Feature wise, the Smart boasts a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 3-megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headset jack, media playback software, web browser and a microSD memory card slot.
Bharti is asking Rs. 9,990 for the device, which is about $220. In order to grab it, you’ll have to visit Airtel’s retail stores in top 30 cities across India, or any of HTC’s authorized resellers.
