Goby has released an iPhone application bringing its activity search engine to the palm of your hand. Using the dedicated application (and Goby’s website, for that matter), you can easily find nearby activities, make weekend plans or explore a new location with just three taps. The service has over four million unique things to do across 350 categories, ranging from local festivals and events to hiking trails, beaches, restaurants, theaters and even playgrounds.

Goby covers every town and city in the United States, and there’s also an interactive map for every category. Each of the activities in Goby’s database comes with specific details — including descriptions, reviews and photos appear.

As expected in the social web world we’re living, the application comes with sharing element, allowing users to inform their buddies/followers on Facebook and Twitter about activities they’re taking at any given moment.

In a nutshell, Goby tries to tackle the growing problem of today’s world – boredom, and now with an iPhone app released, they’re extending the service to a growing number of iPhone iPod Touch owners.
