When you say cutting edge technology in Japan it means something completely different than in the rest of the world. In that sense, we were not surprised to see the Sharp IS01 – which is actually a small Android-powered laptop that also doubles as (huge) phone.
Feature wise, it comes with a 5-inch touchscreen (which as far as I’ve understood shows WVGA+ resolution), 1GHz Snapdragon CPU, full QWERTY keyboard (it’s a small laptop, remember), trackball, some camera, and a battery that sustains up to 310 minutes in talk and 200 hours in standby mode.
In other words, when equipped with appropriate software, it’s the tool that makes a perfect mobile office!
KDDI is offering the Sharp IS01 in Japan and we’ve no idea when (or even whether) it will be exported to the Western hemisphere. Keeping our fingers crossed can’t harm, that’s for sure…
And before I let you go, make sure to check out a short video featuring the Sharp IS01 in all its glory. That’s after the jump, of course. 😉
