Morning everyone. It’s shaping up to be an awesome spring morning… a morning like no other… you know why? It’s MASTERS TIME! Yeehaw! Golf fans around the world have booked Thursday and Friday off of work to plunk themselves in front of the TV (maybe even a 3D TV?*) to watch the events unfold at Augusta National this year. The years first major is always my favorite event of the year, and with Tiger Woods having returned from his self-imposed hiatus, it should become the most watched golf tournament in history.
If you’re like most of us out there, you won’t have the time to have the ‘ol TV on all the time, keeping you up-to-date on the latest. However, if you have an iPhone, The Masters has an awesome app that will do you just fine. I touched on it last year (in fact, EXACTLY a year ago!), but this year they’ve updated the application with some new features and a new layout… and it’s better than ever.
When you pop open the app, you’re greeted with a stunning image of the short par 3 12th hole. Might as well get you in the right mood! When done loading, the app is simply laid out in front of you. 6 buttons grace the screen, so it’s up to you to make your choice from the video (sometimes LIVE), leaderboard, news, course, radio and photos section. I’m not going to go into detail about each section, as they’re fairly self-explanitory. But what I would like to suggest (if you download it), is that you go ahead and explore each section. In particular, the ‘course’ section. If you don’t know much about the Augusta National golf course, this area will give you beautiful hole illustrations, descriptions, and even a fly-over of each hole.
Brilliant. Who’s ready for some golf?

* The Masters is being broadcast in 3D HDTV this year. A first for sure, and awesome for any early 3D HDTV adopters. Apparently the experience is quite good.
