A company called Amidio has released an application called iHolophone, which they tout as a “new amazing music instrument for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.” It allows live performing on 2 synthesizers over fully programmable sequencer beats, addressing both the melody and rhythm.
Don’t be afraid of what may seem as too complicated mambo-jumbo – music education isn’t required for using iHolophone, though Amidio argues even serious musicians will find it fun and useful.
The application rocks 40 factory scenes with 160 factory sequencer patterns, and you can even create own scenes in no time. There are 60 modern instrument sounds to choose from, 800 percussive and melodic sequencer samples and 70 background pictures. In total, that’s about 250 MB of sounds included with the application.
iHolophone apparently really shines in blending music and art. The rhythms, sounds and harmonies produced by the player “dissolve in the changing screen backgrounds to become more than just music, but a deep atmospheric morphing kind of art that immerses into evocative realities.”
