GetJar, which touts itself as the world’s largest independent app store, scored another partner for its white label mobile app catalog solution. It’s India’s Reliance Communications, one of the largest mobile operators in the country.
As part of the deal, GetJar will bring its over 65,000 free mobile applications to Reliance’s user base through VAS platform R-World. Most of the apps included don’t require high-end smartphones and can work on almost any Java-enabled feature phone — more precisely, GetJar says apps in their catalog work on over 2300 handsets across all major platforms.
Reliance on its end plans to offer the service at 50 paise per MB of usage, whereas the application download and use by itself will be free of cost.
And as you may know, this is not the first time GetJar is partnering with some company to distribute its apps. Some of the existing partners include such names as Sprint, Sony Ericsson, 3UK, The Carphone Warehouse and Virgin Mobile France.
