China Mobile’s Chairman Wang Jianzhou said that they are launching mobile reader services in the country. Additionally, he also expressed interest to offer the Apple iPad in an effort to boost the usage of the carrier’s TD-SCDMA-based 3G network. Moreover, Mr. Wang mentioned that they are still negotiating with Apple over the prospects of building a next-gen iPhone that could sing along China Mobile’s 3G network. At the moment, iPhone in China is offered through China Unicom, only.
In the other China Mobile news, the company keeps eyeing opportunities for growth both in the mainland China and overseas. The idea is also to list the company’s shares on the domestic Chinese market and eventually raise more capital. For the record, China Mobile is listed on the Hong Kong (SEHK: 0941) and New York (NYSE: CHL) stock exchanges.
At the end of the post, we ask you – what do you think, will Apple make a special device for the world’s largest mobile operator? Or they’ll keep sticking with China Unicom? Comments form is all yours…
